Dr. Julius Jacobs is a qualified urologist with extensive experience in the field. He obtained his
MBChB degree in 2004 from the University of Pretoria and later pursued a specialist qualification in
Urology in 2013, earning his Mmed Urology from the same institution. He is a registered urologist
with the Health Professional Counsel of South Africa.
Dr. Jacobs’s medical journey started with an internship at Ngwelezana Hospital in Empangeni and
Kalafong Hospital during his community service. Dr. Jacobs further expanded his clinical expertise
by working at different hospitals and departments, including Kalafong Hospital Department of Family
Medicine, Steve Biko High and Intensive Care Unit, and Johannesburg General Trauma Surgery
Department.
In November 2008, Dr. Jacobs joined the Urology Department at The University of Pretoria until
December 2013 earning his specialist qualification in Urology.
In January 2014, he began his independent full-time Urology Practice at Wilgers Life Hospital in
Pretoria.
Dr. Jacobs actively participates in specialised congresses and continuous education programs. He
completed his Mmed degree research on the long-term outcome of prostate cancer treatment according
to histological grading. Dr. Jacobs holds a diploma in laparoscopic surgery from the University of
Strasbourg and received overseas training for surgical male erectile restoration and male
incontinence in Cambridge. He also completed an advanced course in sacral neuromodulation in Aarhus
in 2019.
Beyond his dedication to medicine, Dr. Jacobs enjoys a variety of hobbies. He finds relaxation and
recreation in golf, road and trail running, mountain biking, and birding.
Dr Jacobs is married to Mia, a qualified dietician. Together they have three children, Christiaan,
Lisa and Julia.
